Dwyane Wade Out of Olympics!

The possibility became a reality when Wade made separate phone calls to Colangelo and Krzyzewski and informed them he needs surgery on his left knee and will miss the Olympics.
“The doctor’s prognosis was that he needed surgery immediately,” Colangelo told USA TODAY Sports Thursday afternoon.
Colangelo said Wade, who struggled through the playoffs with pain in his knee, likely will have surgery July 9, three days afterTeam USA begins its training camp in Las Vegas.
“We knew he was only 50-50 anyway,” Colangelo said. “He’s been hurting for quite a while. This is not a shock. We had a conference call just a few days ago with our staff and we talked about different options.”
Wade, who led the U.S. team in scoring when it won gold in Beijing, is expected to be ready for the start of the 2012-13NBA season.
“While every part of me wants to be in London, I need to take this time to do what’s best to improve my health and allow me to continue to play the game I love,” Wade said in a statement released by USA Basketball. “It was an honor to represent my country in 2004 and in 2008 when we won the gold medal. My thoughts and best wishes will travel with Team USA as they prepare to bring home the gold.”
In a statement Colangelo added, “D-Wade has a lot of equity with USA Basketball and has made great contributions to our program. We’re sorry he won’t be with us this summer, but we know he’ll be with us in spirit.”
Team USA is 26-1 with Wade on the team.
