Miami’s own Danell Leyva becomes only the 2nd US Gymnastics athlete to grab a medal in the ALL-AROUND event since 1984. The incredible 20 year old stepped up for an amazing performance after the pain and shock of losing a medal spot in the Team Event earlier in the week. Leyva accepted the lion’s share of the blame after slipping off the pommel horse, sending any hope the U.S. had of contending for Olympic gold along with it.
Wednesday night with almost the same fate of losing dawning on him, he performed an almost flawless routine on the High Bars. Leyva, with a score of 90.690 secured his BRONZE MEDAL. “I knew I had to stick that routine to get a medal,” Leyva said.
CONGRATULATIONS DANELL LEYVA FROM YOUR FRIENDS AT DON’T HATE MIAMI!
